You Were Whole
You have been told, in a hundred different ways, that something is wrong with you.
Not always in those words. Sometimes it was the look. The correction that arrived before you finished the sentence. The reward that came when you made yourself smaller, quieter, easier to be around. You learned early what the room needed you to be, and you delivered it, because the cost of not delivering was higher than the cost of the performance.
And somewhere in all of that, you stopped being able to tell the difference between who you are and what you learned to perform.
That is not a character flaw. It is not a mental health diagnosis. It is not evidence that you are broken, dramatic, or beyond reach. It is what the myth of white supremacy does to everyone it touches, including you, before you had any language for what was happening or any choice about whether to let it in.
The Predator's Table begins with that. With the self that existed before the performance began. The one that knew how to ask for what it needed without calculating the audience first. The one that expressed discomfort without weaponizing it. The one that was whole, not because it knew everything, but because it had not yet been taught that performing was safer than showing up.
That self did not disappear. It was buried. And the only question is whether you are willing to go looking for it.
I want to talk to you about what that looking feels like.
The form below includes Chapter 1 of The Predator's Table in full, along with three prompts. Read it. Sit with the prompts. Answer honestly, not perfectly. What you write is what we will work with.
You Were Whole is a conversation series where I sit down with people who have done exactly that. I want to know what shifted. What you found yourself avoiding. What landed in a way you were not prepared for. What you are still working through. What it feels like to consider, maybe for the first time, that you are not broken. That what you are carrying was installed, not inherited. That relief is not just possible. It is already closer than the myth needed you to believe.
There is no script and no performance required. Just an honest conversation.
These conversations are recorded and shared.
